- The Woodland camouflage pattern, officially known as the M81 Woodland, was developed by the U.S. military in the late 1970s and officially adopted in 1981. It replaced the older ERDL pattern and was designed to provide effective concealment in various forested environments. The pattern features a four-color scheme of green, brown, black, and tan, carefully chosen to blend with natural surroundings in temperate and tropical landscapes.
- The ERDL (Engineer Research and Development Laboratory) pattern, also known as the Leaf pattern, is a camouflage design developed in 1948 and first used in Vietnam. It was initially issued to elite reconnaissance and special operations units in 1967. The pattern features four colors in an interlocking design, with both green-dominant and brown-dominant versions. The brown-dominant version, sometimes called "highland", replaced the light green with light tan.
